Nimesulide tablet for cancer treatment


Cancer, also known as a malignant tumour or malignant neoplasm, is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor Nimesulide inhibits the proliferation of various types of cancer cells mainly via COX-2 independent mechanisms, which makes it a good lead compound for anti-cancer drug development.
There are more than 100 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. Symptoms vary depending on the type.
A series of new nimesulide analogs were synthesized based on the structure–function analysis generated previously. It displayed very potent anti-cancer activity.
significantly suppresses the growth of multiple cancer. By usng Nimesulide the sizes of the colon carcinomas were also decreased.
Pharmacokinetic studies demonstrate the good bioavailability of the compound. A set of non-COX-2 active Nimesulide anti-cancer derivatives were synthesized. It works as a good lead compound for anti-cancer drug development

Precautions:

Women should use the drug with caution during lactation; Nimesulide is contraindicated during pregnancy.
The usual dosage of Nimesulide is 100mg twice a day. For children it should be taken 5mg/kg of body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses

Nimesulide Drug

Pharmacokinetic: Nimesulide has a potent Anti-Inflammatory action.It behaves as a competetive inhibitor of histamine release in-vivo and in-vitro, hence posseses antihistaminic and antiallergic properties.

Indications:
Nimesulide is indicated in painful inflammatory conditions associated with musculoskeletal system, dysmenorrhoea, Thrombophlebitis, dental pain and in ENT inflammation. Absorption Well absorbed from GI tract following oral admin. Peak plasma levels:1-3 hours. With bid admin of 100 mg, steady-state is achieved within 24-36 hours.

Routes of Administration and Dosage: Oral dosage form in adults :100 mg b.i.d In children : 5 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Nimesulide Drug uses: 
  • Nimesulide has less gastrointestinal adverse effects than other NSAIDs.
  • It has superior benefit-risk ratio to other drugs with a comparable safety and tolerability to placebo.
  • Its multifactorial mode of action gives it a unique and broad action on inflammatory.
  • Nimesulide is also safe in sensitive asthmatic patients.
  • It is reported to be beneficial in relieving the symptoms of rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis tubaritis and seceretory otitis media with concomitant antibiotic treatment.
  • Nimesulide has potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities.
