Nimesulide Tablet Dose

Nimesulide Tablet Dose

Nimesulide medication is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, prescribed for painful inflammatory conditions, back pain, dysmenorrhea, postoperative pain, osteoarthritis, and fever.

Nimesulide Dosage:

Adults:
 100 mg twice daily
Children: 5mg/kg of body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses.

The minimum effective dose should be used for the shortest duration to reduce the undesirable effects.

The maximum duration of a treatment course with Nimesulide is 15 days.

Nimesulide 100mg Tablets/granules should be used for the shortest possible duration, as required by the clinical situation.

Adults:
100mg bid after meal.

Elderly:
In elderly patients there is no need to reduce the daily dosageAdolescents (from 12 to 18 years):
on the basis of the kinetic profile in adults and on the pharmacodynamic characteristics of nimesulide, no dosage adjustment in these patients is necessary.

Nimesulide Combination

The generic Nimesulide combination is manufactured by 399 companies and has nearly 522 Brands of Generics of Nimesulide.

Nimesulide is a Non steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID) and targets COX-2 an enzyme responsible for inflammation & pain.

The Nimesulide is preferably used in the composition in an amount of 0.1-5% by weight, more preferably in an amount of 0.1-3% by weight, most preferably in an amount of around 1 % by weight of the composition.

Nimesulide Drug

Pharmacokinetic: Nimesulide has a potent Anti-Inflammatory action.It behaves as a competetive inhibitor of histamine release in-vivo and in-vitro, hence posseses antihistaminic and antiallergic properties.

Indications:
Nimesulide is indicated in painful inflammatory conditions associated with musculoskeletal system, dysmenorrhoea, Thrombophlebitis, dental pain and in ENT inflammation. Absorption Well absorbed from GI tract following oral admin. Peak plasma levels:1-3 hours. With bid admin of 100 mg, steady-state is achieved within 24-36 hours.

Routes of Administration and Dosage: Oral dosage form in adults :100 mg b.i.d In children : 5 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses.

  • Nimesulide has less gastrointestinal adverse effects than other NSAIDs.
