Nimesulide drug uses


Nimesulide has a potent Anti-Inflammatory action.It behaves as a competetive inhibitor of histamine release in-vivo and in-vitro, hence posseses antihistaminic and antiallergic properties.
Indications: Nimesulide is indicated in painful inflammatory conditions associated with musculoskeletal system, dysmenorrhoea, Thrombophlebitis, dental pain and in ENT inflammation. Absorption Well absorbed from GI tract following oral admin. Peak plasma levels:1-3 hours. With bid admin of 100 mg, steady-state is achieved within 24-36 hours.
Routes of Administration and Dosage: Oral dosage form in adults :100 mg b.i.d In children : 5 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Nimesulide Drug uses: 
  • Nimesulide has less gastrointestinal adverse effects than other NSAIDs.
  • It has superior benefit-risk ratio to other drugs with a comparable safety and tolerability to placebo.
  • Its multifactorial mode of action gives it a unique and broad action on inflammatory.
  • Nimesulide is also safe in sensitive asthmatic patients.
  • It is reported to be beneficial in relieving the symptoms of rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis tubaritis and seceretory otitis media with concomitant antibiotic treatment.
  • Nimesulide has potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities.

Nimesulide Dose

Nimesulide medication is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, prescribed for painful inflammatory conditions, back pain, dysmenorrhea, postoperative pain, osteoarthritis, and fever.
Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic (painrelief) and antipyretic(fever-reducing) effects.
Nimesulide 100mg Tablets/granules should be used for the shortest possible duration, as required by the clinical situation.
Indications:
Nimesulide is mostly used for treatment of short-term pain(Acute), joint pain (osteoarthritis), period pains (Primary dysmennorhea), Chronic pains (long-term) and many.
Nimesulide Dosage:
  • Adults: 100 mg twice daily
  • Children: 5mg/kg of body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses.
  • Oral
    Dysmenorrhoea
    Adult: 100 mg bid limited to a max of 15 days.
  • Oral
    Osteoarthritis
    Adult: 100 mg bid limited to a max of 15 days.
  • Oral
    Postoperative pain
    Adult: 100 mg bid limited to a max of 15 days.
  • Oral
    Acute pain
    Adult: 100 mg bid limited to a max of 15 days.
The maximum duration and dose of a treatment course with nimesulide is 15 days, 100 mg twice a day, to minimize the risk of hepatotoxicity.Uses of Nimesulide:
  • Rapid onset of action within 15 minutes
  • Rapidly relieves pain in arthritis(joints).
  • Nimesulide has superior gastrointestinal safety as compared to other NSAIDs.
  • Its multifactorial mode of action gives it a unique and broad action on inflammatory processes
The onset of action of nimesulide is faster and also has a potent and long lasting anti-pyretic affect.

Nimesulide Dose

The main purpose of Nimesulide tablets is for the treatment of painful inflammatory conditions, back pain, dysmenorrhea, postoperative pain, osteoarthritis, and fever.

Oral dosage form prescribed for the shortest duration

In adults:100 mg
In children: 5 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Nimesulide has superior gastrointestinal safety as compared to other NSAIDs. Its multifactorial mode of action gives it a unique and broad action on inflammatory processes.
