Nimesulide has a potent Anti-Inflammatory action.It behaves as a competetive inhibitor of histamine release in-vivo and in-vitro, hence posseses antihistaminic and antiallergic properties.
Indications: Nimesulide is indicated in painful inflammatory conditions associated with musculoskeletal system, dysmenorrhoea, Thrombophlebitis, dental pain and in ENT inflammation. Absorption Well absorbed from GI tract following oral admin. Peak plasma levels:1-3 hours. With bid admin of 100 mg, steady-state is achieved within 24-36 hours.
Routes of Administration and Dosage: Oral dosage form in adults :100 mg b.i.d In children : 5 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Nimesulide Drug uses:
- Nimesulide has less gastrointestinal adverse effects than other NSAIDs.
- It has superior benefit-risk ratio to other drugs with a comparable safety and tolerability to placebo.
- Its multifactorial mode of action gives it a unique and broad action on inflammatory.
- Nimesulide is also safe in sensitive asthmatic patients.
- It is reported to be beneficial in relieving the symptoms of rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis tubaritis and seceretory otitis media with concomitant antibiotic treatment.
- Nimesulide has potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities.
