Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
drug (NSAID) which means it provides analgesic (pain-killing) and
antipyretic(fever-reducing) effects. Nimesulide is mostly used for
treatment of short-term pain(Acute), joint pain (osteoarthritis),
period pains (Primary dysmennorhea), Chronic pains and many.
Acute Pain: starts suddenly and usually
feels sharp. Broken bones, burns, or cuts are examples of acute pain.
Acute pain lasts just a moment or it may last for weeks or months.
Some times it may also lead to Chronic pain (long-term pain).
Ex of Chronic pains:
- Headache
- Low back pain
- Cancer pain
- Arthritis pain
- Pain caused by nerve damage
Nimesulide shows positive reaction in the
treatment of several painful situations with an acute inflammatory
component including primary dysmenorrhea because of the rapid onset
of the analgesic action. which Nimesulide shows meaningful reductions
observed within 15 minutes from drug intake.
Osteoarthritis: It is most common in
middle-aged and older people, and its symptoms can range from very
mild to very severe it mostly affects hands and weight-bearing joints
such as Knees, hips, feet and the back, but can affect almost any
joint in the body.
Joint pains mostly caused due to Obesity, Injury,
Heridity, Joint overuse(Over use of any joint like repeated bending
of knees), and most common cause is Age.
Nimesulide ease pain and make it favorable in the
treatment of joint diseases. A clinical study has been carried out
with patients suffering from join pains. This study has proved
efficacy and tolerability in patients.
Primary dysmennorhea: It shows pain in
lower abdomen which is very common problem in young women (occurring
in the absence of pelvic pathology).
