Nimesulide Tablet Dose

Nimesulide medication is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, prescribed for painful inflammatory conditions, back pain, dysmenorrhea, postoperative pain, osteoarthritis, and fever.
Nimesulide Dosage:
  • Adults: 100 mg twice daily
  • Children: 5mg/kg of body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses.
The minimum effective dose should be used for the shortest duration to reduce the undesirable effects.
The maximum duration of a treatment course with Nimesulide is 15 days.
Nimesulide 100mg Tablets/granules should be used for the shortest possible duration, as required by the clinical situation.
Adults:
100mg bid after meal.
Elderly:
In elderly patients there is no need to reduce the daily dosage
Children (< 12 years):
Nimesulide 100mg Tablets/granules is contraindicated in these patients.
Adolescents (from 12 to 18 years):
on the basis of the kinetic profile in adults and on the pharmacodynamic characteristics of nimesulide, no dosage adjustment in these patients is necessary.

Nimesulide Painkiller Drug



Nimesulide is used in giving relief from acute pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and primary dysmenorrhoea in adolescents and adults.

The drug is also an effective antipyretic and used to treat headaches and flu. It is also used in treating inflammatory conditions in humans and pain caused by arthritis or severe injury.

Nimesulide is a popular NSAID and available in various forms including tablets, suppositories, water-soluble powders, and topical gels.

Working of Nimesulide

It acts by inhibiting the release of tumour necrosis factor-alpha, acts as a competitive inhibitor of histamine release and reduces superoxide anion formation

Nimesulide Dosage

Adults: 100 mg twice daily
Children: 5mg/kg of body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses.
