Nimesulide Drug Uses

Pharmacokinetic:

Nimesulide has a potent Anti-Inflammatory action.It behaves as a competetive inhibitor of histamine release in-vivo and in-vitro, hence posseses antihistaminic and antiallergic properties.

Indications:


Nimesulide is indicated in painful inflammatory conditions associated with musculoskeletal system, dysmenorrhoea, Thrombophlebitis, dental pain and in ENT inflammation.

Absorption:

Well absorbed from GI tract following oral admin. Peak plasma levels:1-3 hours. With bid admin of 100 mg, steady-state is achieved within 24-36 hours.


Routes of Administration and Dosage:

Oral dosage form in adults :100 mg b.i.d In children : 5 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Nimesulide Drug uses:

  • Nimesulide has less gastrointestinal adverse effects than other NSAIDs
  • It has superior benefit-risk ratio to other drugs with a comparable safety and tolerability to placebo.
  • Its multifactorial mode of action gives it a unique and broad action on inflammatory.
  • Nimesulide is also safe in sensitive asthmatic patients. It is reported to be beneficial in relieving the symptoms of rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis tubaritis and seceretory otitis media with concomitant antibiotic treatment.
  • Nimesulide has potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities
